The Loves of my Life

A lot of the things I make usually end up going to the loves of my life- my niece and nephew. Here are some Easter surprises I made for them. I stuck them in their mailbox and had them check the mail. My niece is at the age where getting mail addressed to herself is just about too exciting to handle! The only person happier than she is is me, watching how happy she gets! They were very simple and inexpensive to make but were very special to her.

The other love of my life is my child, Paisley. Okay- so she's a golden retriever- but for now, she is our baby girl. "Our" being me and my husband Bert, my best friend and my rock. I know what you're thinking, I'm married to a 75 year old grandfather. Although I understand your thinking, you are wrong. He is actually a very handsome young college football coach who happens to be the fifth ( yes I said the FIFTH) Bert in his family. So yes, you guessed it, that means if I am blessed enough to have a baby boy someday, his name will also be Bert.

Since Bert is a college football coach that means from August to November he is gone- a LOT! Although I miss him terribly when he is on the road, it gives me lots of time to craft. In fact, during the season I have officially named the Friday of away games Craftday Friday. I dedicate this night to going to one of those wonderful things I find on pinterest and actually DOING it.

I'll be sharing other crafts and teaching ideas as they happen and catching you up on some I did per-blog. I can already see how this blogging stuff can get addicting!

Nursery Door Hanger

Usually when I am out browsing through those adorable (and usually overpriced) craft boutiques all I can think is "I could do that"! It usually ends with me at the store picking up the materials to try to make it myself.
The other day I had my eye on the most adorable wall/door hanging made out of screen. I just happened to have some screen at the house from a previous crafting endeavor, so I thought I'd give it a try.

I never know what to expect when I try one of these DIY projects, especially since I have no directions and usually just try it by looking at the original. They do NOT always turn out the way I expect ( hence the "laughing" in my blog name- one of the best things in Life is learning to laugh at yourself- or your craft).

This one turned out pretty cute! It is not finished yet, but is heading in the right direction. It's a gift for my good friends baby to be- Ava.

New Beginnings

At the start of my new blogging adventure, I thought it would be appropriate to post another new beginning happening around the Bathiany home.

We have been watching a nest growing on our door wreath for a few weeks now and today we finally found some eggs!!! It look so beautiful I just had to share ( don't worry I didn't touch).

I can't wait to watch as little little eggs turn into baby birds and then finally fly away!

Spring is such a wonderful time for new beginnings. I'm feeling very refreshed, and of course extra crafty as the weather gets warmer.
